UK-based water and wastewater treatment technology provider Bluewater Bio International will forge a technological alliance with water and sewerage firm Thames Water.

The partners will actively share information and opinions on new and emerging technologies, as well as collaborate on innovations within Thames Water's growing suite of products and services.

The agreement will allow Bluewater Bio access to Thames Water's R&D facilities for enabling technology trials and demonstration projects, when required.

In addition, Thames Water will help Bluewater Bio identify key commercial customers for its portfolio of services.

Bluewater Bio CEO and founder Daniel Ishag said that the alliance formalises a strong technological relationship built over the last four years around shared objectives and values.

"These are focused on increased water and wastewater re-use, accompanied by reductions in energy and chemical consumption, physical footprint, carbon emissions and operational costs," added Ishag.

"We look forward to cementing our collaboration, helping Thames deliver sustainable innovations to their 14 million customers and upholding the UK's strong water sector credentials."

Bluewater Bio exports its expertise and technologies to projects in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Spain, South Africa and the US, amongst others.

The company said that it sources majority of its components from engineering firms and manufacturers based across the UK including Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Shropshire.
